Baker & O'Brien Presents at the Sixth Argus Americas Crude Summit
January 21, 2014
Rick Thomas recently presented an overview of the new U.S. refinery “kit”, focusing on changing U.S. refinery crude slates and the long-term impact these changes are likely to have on future refinery configurations. The Argus Americas Crude Summit explored current issues and challenges in the domain of crude oil, including issues pertaining to the market impact of emerging domestic crude production, U.S. Gulf Coast crude supply and its impact on base load heavy sour crude consumption, and demand from the global refined products markets. Mr. Thomas’ presentation assessed how changes in crude slates are impacting refinery operations and investments, whether new U.S. refineries will be small modular plants assembled in close proximity to production sources, the role of condensate splitters, and which U.S. refineries are likely to be viable five years from now.
