Baker & O'Brien Presents at the Argus North American Petroleum Transportation Summit
June 2, 2015
Charles Kemp delivered a presentation at the Argus North American Petroleum Transportation Summit titled, “Where Should My Crude Go…Now?” which is Part 2 of the previous year’s presentation, “Where Should My Crude Go?”. Mr. Kemp discussed the adaptations of the U.S. refining industry to process new light tight oil (LTO) and even lighter condensates. Significant physical and economic challenges extend from the industry’s ability to process and dispose of “light ends” composed of propane, butanes, and light-straight-run gasoline. Both refiners and products markets have lower economic values for these light materials, leaving crude oil producers and transporters with poor disposal alternatives. One possible method of “clearing” these components is through a quality bank such as that used on the Trans-Alaska Pipeline System.
