Summary of Experience

Mr. Sinquefield has over 40 years of professional experience in refining, petrochemicals, and oil and gas exploration and production. He began his professional process engineering career, supporting the daily operations of refinery cracking and distillate treating process units for Exxon. At BP, Mel provided technical operations support for oil production facilities, followed by leadership positions in process safety management (PSM) and health, safety, and environment (HSE).

Mel’s expertise in process engineering, PSM, and HSE has been applied in refinery and oilfield production operations, major facility construction and commissioning, seismic exploration, drilling, and well operations. He is an expert in investigating incidents involving casualties, major asset losses, and environmental damages. He has deep insight into risk-based PSM/HSE management system requirements and the bearing of human factors on related incidents.

Mel is generally engaged in matters of personal injury, toxic tort, and industrial incidents with a focus on regulations and responsibilities. He also provides litigation support in disputes and due diligence on process safety and integrity management, in addition to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) in acquisitions and major project financing.
